It was barely bright, and standing still for too long made your feet numb. Any part of the body exposed to the atmosphere - like fingers - felt like they were going to be so brittle they'd snap off any time. Given the circumstances, I think our guitarist Aleisha did brilliantly.
Held on the Thursday 22 June before exams began, a valiant band of rob- I mean, students (and 1 lecturer ) gathered around the largely ignored flagpole in front of VCP.
The flagpole offered no warmth, but there was something different in the air. As the prayers began to stream forth from us, we discovered that it is highly possible to be almost frozen on the outside, but burning hot on the inside.
We prayed to bless Universe, our respective year levels, our campus, our university, our city, our nation - and we know that God heard our prayers as we joined with countless others across Australia. People often call it coincidence when their prayers are answered, but as time after time Universe has seen countless prayers answered (40+ people attending Welcome Dinner 2008, new dedicated first year students joining our legacy every year, sufficient funding, etc.) we could never deny the fact that Jesus is real.
In a word?
AWESOME.
Don't miss next year's event!
